This weekend, we braved the crowds at Saks Fifth Avenue to see their new 8th floor shoe department. The store windows in front were decorated for the occasion, featuring must-have shoes and large pictures of the limited edition postage stamps that were designed by designers such as Christian Louboutin and Stuart Weitzman. There is an express elevator, but my boyfriend and I took the less crowded regular one. The floor, which has its own zip code (10022-SHOE), was crowded, but you could still see all the shoes and the smiling sales people. Sadly, I am not in the market for shoes right now, but I loved checking out the displays and the beautiful decor. I thought the idea of having their own zip code is a little much, but the postage stamp theme is cute and is a great way to get visitors in the store. If you can’t get to Manhattan, you can check out their on-line shoe collection at www.saksfifthavenue.com.
