I happened to see a commercial of the Geico cavemen this morning with the web address www.cavemanscrib.com, and I was intrigued. The site is an extension of the famous Geico commercials featuring cavemen, who have become a pop culture phenomenon. From the site, you can poke around the cavemen’s apartment, before and after a party that they have at their contemporary style apartment. You can watch videos of the party through their cellphone and read their text messages. Or, you can read through the blogs on their computer and see how they feel about the Geico commercials.
The site’s purpose is for entertainment, but they do work in some actual Geico advertisments. The site was launched in January and has been criticized for being “flat”, but I think it is interesting. I loved how they worked in things like the caveman’s bath products, magazines, college textbooks, photo albums, and ipod tunes. These cave men, created by the The Martin Agency, might have their own television show. Overall, I thought the site is an interesting concept and a good representation of today’s culture, but it is only worth checking out if you are bored or want to take your mind off of work.
