Decorating is an exciting process and can be overwhelming when it is a new home. I want our home to reflect who we are as well as be a comfortable, beautiful place. I want everything to look personal, yet put together. So, for some inspiration, I went browsing on the internet for some pictures of David Hicks’s interiors. David Hicks was known in the 1960s and 70s for blending formal, classic styles with modern styles. Hicks’s specialty was collecting items, such as photos, textiles, and art, or objets d’art, and arranging them in compositions to create “tablescapes”. I love that there is a name for this, because my boyfriend’s father has tablescapes on most surfaces of his home. It is a great way to have the things you love around you always and to remind you of good memories. You can view these photos and more at www.dh1970.com to get some design ideas for your own home.
