Target’s newest designer line is Libertine. The Target website says the line will be for sale starting on July 15th, but I saw a few of the pieces yesterday in a store. The clothes were very cute and had a flirty classic look.
Libertine is a unique brand. Johnson Hartig reassembles vintage pieces (on the west coast) and then partner Cindy Greene (on the east coast) silk-screens 19th century images onto the clothes. Although their line for Target will be mass produced, the same themes and looks are present as in the originals.
I love the designer lines at mass retailers because it gives me trendy clothing that can be worn for the season and then disposed of without hurting my pocketbook! I have gotten more compliments on the simple Patrick Robinson shift dress from Target that I have worn all summer than any other item in my wardrobe. Most of the must-have pieces sell out quickly in stores, so I suggest shopping on www.target.com for a great selection of sizes and all of the styles.
