I saw on the news this morning an interesting marketplace called Fresh & Easy. Fresh & Easy is a company of Tesco, the UK’s largest retailer. Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market is a chain of local, neighborhood store that delivers fresh and healthy food at an affordable price. All of the Fresh & Easy private brand products contain no artificial colors or flavors and no added trans fats. They really do believe in the neighborhood aspect and are planning to build many stores here in the southwest (Southern California, Las Vegas, and Phoenix) in every kind of neighborhood. Over half of the employees of each store live within 3 miles of the store, the buildings are LEED certified, they recycle and reuse all packaging materials and displays, and Fresh & Easy uses environmentally friendly trailers to transport food. I can’t wait until a location opens close to me!
